The Barnevelder Developed in the Barnveld area of the Netherlands to produce a hen that was both hardy and would produce brown eggs.

Primary use: dual-purpose meat/eggs

Egg size: Large
Temperament: Good natured
Recognized variety stocked:Brown - two rings of glossy green/black lacing on nut-brown background. Blue Laced, Black, Partridge and Silver have been bred but are rarely encountered
Egg color: Brown
